Plant Sale Details

 Hello Garden Friends!

I don't know about you but my fall schedule is quickly filling up! So I wanted to get the dates out so you can coordinate your trip over for some fall starts with your planting schedule.

Don't be in a rush to come the first day or two. I started later than I had planned so most are pretty small! I have had trouble getting the broccoli, cauliflower, & cabbage going. Long story.  But the Asian greens and other greens are doing pretty good! Below is a picture of the "salad bowls".

Visit my blog for plant details. (Coming in the next couple days.) I'll also be sharing some helpful info on growing a fall garden in the coming weeks.

Most plants are in those fiber pots. I'll have two main sizes of pots. Bigger pots for these three listed above will be 4 plants for $5 and the asian greens and other greens (spinach, chard, collards, mustards, etc) will be 6 for $5. The salad bowls will be $5 each and have dozens of plants you can separate to grow full size and cut as needed for salads all winter! I have a couple herbs and a few flowers, too.

Email if you have questions but I may not reply right away. My day job has been keeping me pretty busy and I'm helping cover someone else's vacation next week before I'm on my own vacation. Once my vacation starts on the 21st. I'll be in the greenhouse getting plants in pots and signage ready to help you pick out your plants.

The good news for all of us... No appointment or pre-selecting needed. Just come on one or more of the dates at the specified times and browse from what's available. Each weekend I will have slightly different varieties as things grow and get potted up into bigger pots!

I will be requiring masks and asking that everyone maintain safe distances. I'll have plants spread out and labeled. Watch for the list of plants, images and descriptions in the blog in the next couple days. www.erinhollis.com.

https://agrilifeextension.tamu.edu/library/gardening/cole-crops/. We’re in zone III on their map and it recommends planting brassicas aka cole crops ( kale, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, etc.) between August 20 & September 20. Other great info can be found in the article as well.

Join me in the garden...
I have two weeks coming up of PTO (aka vacation) and I'm not traveling!
I will be replacing the sides in my raised bed. If you are interested in helping for an hour or two we can talk about gardening and swap ideas. It will be light duty labor for the most part. Email me if you want to come. We'll work out a time.

Week 1 August 23rd - 27th
I will have purchased materials. Hopefully cut most of the boards and will be staining/painting the boards this week. Taking out the old and screwing in the new. Adding amendments to top off and freshen up and fill in the gaps will be on tap as well. I'm making some slight changes to a few of the beds that are currently U shaped (keyhole garden inspired) to rectangles to better protect from pests and for the addition of drip irrigation. If you come and help I'll be happy to share fall seeds and send you away with some transplants in exchange for your help.

Week 2 - September 13th - 17th
Will continue work on the beds. Changing out the frames I have on top that hold the trellis's. A little more labor intensive. Times in the garden will be affected by potential for day trips. We are both off this week and was originally going to be our annual fall road trip.

I'm finishing the list of what I'm growing this weekend and will share on my blog. Come check it out if you want to see what I'm growing. I'll have a few surprises, too.

Blog is at www.erinhollis.com

See you soon!
Erin
